Gateway Review

Before the gateway review takes place the apprentice will need:

To have completed a programme of learning and formative assessment

To have attained the English and maths requirements and mandatory qualifications (where applicable)

Gateway Meeting

The employer and training provider agree that the apprentice is ready for end-point assessment.

The apprentice agrees and is confident to be assessed.

The training provider refers the apprentice to the End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) and submits the required gateway documents.

Assessment Planning

PAL reviews the gateway documents and, if they are satisfactory, accepts the apprentice for end-point assessment.

Within three working days, the apprentice is contacted to arrange a planning meeting.

Assessment Schedule

The assessment planning meeting takes place.

The assessment schedule agreed and the apprentice is provided with all of the information they need.

Assessment Undertaken

The assessments take place as agreed, noting any specific requirements of the assessment plan.

Note: cancellations may result in cancellation fees.

Assessment Feedback and Grading

Assessment grading and feedback is issued within 15 working days after the last EPAO assessment activity.

Grade Finalisation

The apprentice and employer have 15 working days to respond to feedback following PAL’s Appeals and Enquiries policy.

Notification of Results

For successful apprentices, PAL requests the apprenticeship certificate from the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Certification

The ESFA issues the Apprenticeship certificate which is sent to the employer address.

Reassessment, where required, will be arranged in conjunction with all parties.
