Before the gateway review takes place the apprentice will need:
To have completed a programme of learning and formative assessment
To have attained the English and maths requirements and mandatory qualifications (where applicable)
The employer and training provider agree that the apprentice is ready for end-point assessment.
The apprentice agrees and is confident to be assessed.
The training provider refers the apprentice to the End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) and submits the required gateway documents.
PAL reviews the gateway documents and, if they are satisfactory, accepts the apprentice for end-point assessment.
Within three working days, the apprentice is contacted to arrange a planning meeting.
The assessment planning meeting takes place.
The assessment schedule agreed and the apprentice is provided with all of the information they need.
The assessments take place as agreed, noting any specific requirements of the assessment plan.
Note: cancellations may result in cancellation fees.
Assessment grading and feedback is issued within 15 working days after the last EPAO assessment activity.
The apprentice and employer have 15 working days to respond to feedback following PAL’s Appeals and Enquiries policy.
For successful apprentices, PAL requests the apprenticeship certificate from the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
The ESFA issues the Apprenticeship certificate which is sent to the employer address.
Reassessment, where required, will be arranged in conjunction with all parties.
