Before the gateway review takes place the apprentice will need:
To have completed a programme of learning and formative assessment
To have completed their functional skills and other qualifications where applicable
Apprentice and employer present the case for EPA readiness to the Training Organisation.
Within 48 hours, post-gateway meeting, the Training Organisation submits the report to the End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO).
EPAO requires three possible assessment planning dates (no sooner than seven days after the gateway report submission).
Assessment planning invoice raised
End-point assessor assigned within three days of receiving the gateway report
Assessment planning date booked
Assessment planning meeting takes place with the EPAO assessor
Assessment schedule agreed, all assessments need to take place within an 8-week timeline
Assessments take place, as agreed in the assessment plan.
Note: cancellations can result in cancellation fees
Assessment Feedback and Grading
Assessment grading and feedback is issued within 5 working days after the last EPAO assessment activity
Apprentice and employer have two working days to respond to feedback
Notification of Results
Invoice raised for assessment activities
Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and relevant External Quality Assurance body (EQA) informed of the assessment outcome
When the ESFA receives notification of a successful assessment from the Training Organisation and EPAO, the Apprenticeship certificate is claimed and sent to the Employer EPAO will issue a certificate of assessment
Re-sits, where required, will be arranged
