End-Point Assessment Requirements

English and maths

Before an apprentice can progress to End-point Assessment, they must have achieved the relevant level of English and maths, as per the requirements of the apprenticeship standard.

Level 2 apprentices are required to achieve Level 1 English and maths.

Apprentice Showcase

  • The apprentice will select appropriate evidence from the on-programme portfolio to demonstrate the minimum requirements for this method of assessment and to meet the brief.
  • The apprentice will present their showcase to an independent assessor to provide an opportunity for them to interview the apprentice and delve deeper into the learning and experience.
  • The apprentice showcase is graded fail, pass or distinction.
  • Webinar or video conferencing software can be used for the assessment.

Practical Observation

  • The observation involves an independent assessor observing an apprentice undertaking a range of day-to-day workplace activities to allow them to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and behaviours through naturally occurring evidence.
  • The assessment will last a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 90 minutes.
  • Each situation within the observation will be different, but it is mandatory that the observation covers as a minimum:
    • presentation
    • equality
    • interpersonal skills
    • communication
    • personal organisation.
  • The observation is graded fail, pass or distinction.

Professional Discussion

  • The professional discussion must last for a maximum of 60 minutes.
  • The professional discussion is graded fail, pass or distinction.
  • Webinar or video conferencing software can be used for the assessment.
